Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 0:08 femininity is powerful in all its forms, exceptional women, rare girls must be appreciated in every way for their perspectives, actions, thoughts, and their unique ways of being. Such rare girls are inspiring. And this is what this podcast is all about. Hello, my name is Aziz and my guest today is Hernan Livesey Hernandez, a technical student from Morocco specialized in electrical sciences. Hernan loves watching theories and movies, and during the summer, she participated in DG girls mentorship program, which expanded her scientific and digital knowledge. Hernan, how are you today? Hanane Labzae 1:01 I am doing fine as you Thank you. First of all, thank you, as always, for accepting me, it was a such honor. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 1:10 Thank you very much. And I'm curious about you. So I'll begin with this. If your friends could describe who you are, your personality, what would they say about you? Hanane Labzae 1:22 Honestly, they can say I'm an introvert. And at the same time, I have a social personality. And I'm a helper. So that's the compliments I get a lot of my friends. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 1:39 Thank you. And I would love to speak more about that. But I'm curious. How did you choose or make the decision to choose electrical sciences and your technical school? Hanane Labzae 1:53 I choose it because I'm also curious about electrical science and I want to be electrical genius. And I hope my my dream being an engineer, electrical engineer, come through. And that's was, honestly that was the goal from the beginning. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 2:16 I like your confidence. Can you tell me, you said you're more introverted girl. So how did you develop this confidence? Did you always have it? Or did you decide? No, I want opportunities in life. I need to be confident. Hanane Labzae 2:33 No. I'm kind of shy. So. No, no. I am shy. Honestly, I am shy. So I want to challenge myself to not be afraid anymore, and getting chances and opportunities to express myself. You know, Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 2:52 I love that. How do you express yourself with electrical engineering? Hanane Labzae 3:00 I did this by exploring my knowledge and my Soft Skills in robotic and domotic and programming soft skills. And it's the goal. It's not to be just for boys. You know, I'm a little bit free minutes was you know, that's what I want. I that. That's my goal. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 3:25 I like that. Can you tell me more about your feminist ideas? And how is technical knowledge somehow only for boys? And how do you show that it's not only for boys, it's also for girls Hanane Labzae 3:40 in Morocco, this society, if they know that you are in technical high school, they will they will say no, you should be an in science, like a doctor doctor or something like that. You're a girl. You don't deserve to be electrical engineer. So like what I say it's just for boys, if you are a mechanical genius or electrical genius, so you don't deserve it, it just for boys. And I didn't like it from the beginning. So I say what I said Why? Why? It's kind of there is no quality you know. So, my my goal again is to be equal with the boys and to not be afraid anymore of expressing myself in for the society. So they will accept me like who I am, I am I want this. This major and I will do with I want to be electrical engineer and I will I will do which Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 4:59 I really enjoy urges you to do that, to express yourself to do what you want without limits. Thank you for that and to ask you about your love for TV series and movies. What do you like about it? Is it a world of freedom where you feel you are those persons and their movie that you are free to live any life? Without limitations? Or what is interesting for you about TV theories and movies? Hanane Labzae 5:30 Yes, yes, yes, I do. It's, it's kind of like, it's kind of like my second war, or war, or something like that. So I, it's just me and myself and the series, and the TV, and the movies. So the types of movies and series I would that I watch it, it's, it's kind of about marketing and, and commercial, commercial. I don't know, how can I say it? Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 6:10 Yes. closeness and commerce? Yes. Yes. Hanane Labzae 6:13 Yes. So I didn't know what my choice to be an engineer, and engineer, I didn't get the chance to learn about business or something like that. So I'm kind of exploring my knowledge from the, from the TV series and, and in the movies. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 6:39 That's very interesting. And when you become an engineer, would you love to do that work in Morocco? May be I don't know which city you would love to be? Or do you have dreams of being an engineer in Paris, or in America, or Australia or Canada or somewhere like that, Hanane Labzae 7:00 mostly, I want to be an enduring abode of Morocco. So I can go back to Morocco and build my own company, you know? So I want to make it a board of Morocco. And, and, and make it true? You know, you guessed right. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 7:26 Yes, I understand you fully 100%? Who is your role model in this? Do you have a family member? A famous Moroccan? Maybe Elon Musk or some female entrepreneur? Who inspires you to do this? Or how did this idea of starting your own business abroad and then return to Morocco? Start in your brain? Hanane Labzae 7:54 Yes, yes, there is a lot of and especially Elon Musk, and also, but the first the first model it's made, because I chose the logical, the logical decision and and the ones who I will be comfortable with, and I will not to be, I will not regret it, you know, Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 8:22 I understand 100%. And to understand you even more, your friends, I don't know if you have other girls in your technical institute and your technical school, how do you support each other? How do you help each other become more successful, get good grades, etc? Or how is it within your group? Hanane Labzae 8:48 Yes, there is a lot of girls in my technical high school and with the same goals, and we encourage encouraging ourselves by our own and like for example, we, we we study together and share ideas and also sharing goals with with each other and I think that says, you know, Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 9:20 of course, thank you and to understand life in Morocco. What are some of the things you're like there? And what are some of the things you feel would be better if they changed and so that women like you will have opportunities to do anything they want and nothing is limited? Or in the culture thought of only for boys? Honestly, Hanane Labzae 9:47 there is a window develop in ourselves like there's many of boys they think the same of us like they have good Midas And they, they believe that girls can do can do a lot of sins. Always the boys can do it. And I like that because there is there's such of people who can understand us and are proud of the, the level of Moroccan minus right now because because before there's no such a thing that that the girl can express yourself or, or fulfill like that or participation in events or like that, are we in? Are we in an obligate occupational in a job? That's it just for boys? You got me right, like a bus driver? Or, or something like that? Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 10:55 Of course, I understand you for Lee and to ask you. In many places, it is said that social media and Tik Tok and reels are bad, they make teenagers have low self esteem, to think they're ugly to have depression, do you feel in Morocco or in your culture? That is correct. Or it's actually helping boys and girls to have an open mind and to be more modern and open to the world? Hanane Labzae 11:26 There is I think there is a good sides and a bad sides. Because first of all, they they departed an aspect of the teenagers. So like the sexual she or something like that, and also the cell COVID confidence. They, they are, they are good in it. So, so I believe that the social media effects in our society, in the poor sides good and bad one. And I think that's it. Because if you if you know what, what's your goals, you will choose your right way. You will not go into blame social media or something like that. The air person in you and bed and patch or something like that? You hear me right? Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 12:27 Yes, I do. Thank you for that. And you said you would love to be an engineer abroad of Morocco? What countries or cultures? Are you curious about? That you would love to live in and spend some time? And is it like Korea and Japan? Is it like California? The places near Facebook and Apple? etc? Or is it a different place that you believe will develop your skills and your ability so when you return to Morocco and start your company, you will be ready. Hanane Labzae 13:07 The first idea come to me is Canada and Canada, especially in Quebec because I I think there is a lot of off electrical and technical call technical science right there. So I think I will, I will get the chance right here. Right. Right there. And also you UK I think there's still a destination that I do believe in that says Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 13:42 thank you and you're shy at the same time will you go to places where you already have family or people you know or how will you make new friends in a new culture new place when you are new there? How do you imagine the process? Will you try to meet new people and be brave? Will you go to classes to meet new people who will study or do you believe it will be easy for you difficult How will you make new friends and a new country? Hanane Labzae 14:18 No, honestly it will not be easy. But I will challenging myself again. So there is no limit. So I do I have to believe in myself. I can that I can do whatever I want. You know so make you friends or make meeting new people. It's not a such such a bad thing or that I have to be afraid of. So I think that I can do it. I have to deal with it like Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 14:52 that. What motivates you to challenge yourself and every area and fear like this way Larry does this motivation to challenge yourself by doing technical engineering to challenge yourself to learn about business, to challenge yourself to make new friends and a new country and to start a company later, what motivates you to challenge yourself? Hanane Labzae 15:17 First of all, it's my parents, because they, they're encouraging me. They tell me do whatever, it's good for you. So you'll know you, you limit your limits. And secondly, it's me kind of fits me, because I feel like I am unique. And I want to prove it. No. Yes, that's it. I want to prove it. And I want to, I want to prove That's right. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 15:49 Thank you. And I like very much how you speak English. You're speaking very well. How do you study English? Is it all at home? Or are the TV theory and the movies that you watch in English and Tik Tok and YouTube help you do? Or what is your method of learning the English language? Hanane Labzae 16:11 Yes, it's all about the series and the movies and also the songs and music and, And the grammar. It's just from YouTube and, and Tik Tok and Astro Brown. And a little bit of it, it's from it's from the school, because our school is not given us that much of, of knowledge of English knowledge that we need, you know, because that's my, kind of, that's my third year that I thought I studied English in, in Morocco. Yes, that's the third year. I think there are not good enough in it. Because there is a lot of people in Morocco can can speak very, very, very well. And I want also to explore my, my knowledge in English because I don't feel like I practice practises enough. I want to be the better version of myself in it. In speaking English. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 17:25 Yes, you. And often I know that Morocco is influenced by the French culture. Do you feel that because of YouTube, Tik Tok, and all that your culture is a mix of all over the world, from Korea, to Canada, to friends to Arabic cultures? Or are you more and still 100%? Typical or usual? Moroccan girl? Do you know what I mean? Are you exactly like, similar to your mother and grandmother? Or are you now because of social media? And mix of many cultures at the same time? Hanane Labzae 18:06 Honestly, Morocco is mixing of many culture because of the history like before, there is a lot of love countries and and areas passing by Morocco. I don't know how can I say it's but it's the first reason it's the history. And, and my grandmother and my mother, they are very well, I don't know, how can you say it but they have a good mind this. So the problem it was like it was the the feminism so they cannot expressing themselves very well. So now I had an opportunity to express myself, otherwise they cannot, you know, so I think that's the difference between me and the the last generation. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 19:08 Thank you and to know them. You said you would love to go abroad? Is there a specific university or Institute or somewhere that you would dream about for completing your education in or you will just take what opportunities you find and you'll try to learn from real work and real experiences. Hanane Labzae 19:32 I believe that it's all about money. Because if I don't have the amount to to achieve that the guilt university so I cannot be in it. It's all about work. It's all about the money wherever the university I want if I have no money Only I can do it, you know what I want to meet? Because it's kind of hard to me to travel or something like that. But I wanted my, my parents tell me do it. We are with you. So I will do whatever it takes to me, it takes for me, Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 20:25 thank you, I really, really encourage you and I believe in your ability to succeed. And you said you wish to be a technical and engineering genius? What does that mean for you? How will you how will you approach this dream? Hanane Labzae 20:46 I think it's why hard working. But unfortunately, I'm not a hardworking person. I work smart and not hard. So I am kind of having difficulties and problems with my personal day. So me study and learn and do do better. We want the great degree, so they want me to study anywhere and everywhere. But I'm not like that, you know, I can do better. Just just by like, low, lower. How can you say? Well, efforts? No. low effort? No, just hard work? Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 21:37 Of course, I understand what you mean. 100% Thank you. Hi, Nana, for participating. This was my privilege. My honor. Do you have any message for all other Moroccan girls who something you wish them to remember or to think about or to live that you believe will be good words for you to share with them? Hanane Labzae 22:03 I'm in love with all of the Moroccan girls, and I'm proud of them. And as a Moroccan girl, I want to to tell myself and tell my sisters that we can do whatever we want. We just need the first step, the first push, and we can do whatever we want. And, and thank you as us it was such an honor to meet you. And I'm happy because I I talked with you. Abdulaziz M Alhamdan 22:39 Thank you too. It was my honor and my privilege
