Hello, my name is Aziz and I'm the son of a divorced mother. She is really my superhero. That's why it's important for me to support women to share their uniqueness, their personalities, perspectives, and emotions about this world. In these difficult times in human history, we need to bring the people of the world together. And when we hear the voices of women, when we listen to real lives of women from other countries, we connect our cultures without differences or stereotypes. And we get inspired by their stories to live a better life. That's what this podcast is all about. My guest today is Mariam Mazouz. Mariam is a member of the Children's Parliament in Tunisia, and she studies in the second year of high school, specializing in technology. Mariam loves computer science, as well as writing her thoughts in Arabic. She is a member of a human rights association for students, a contributor to an environmental project under the auspices of the European Union, a member of the Tunisian Scouts, and she took an ambulance course through the Tunisian Scouts and will take more education through the Red Crescent Association. Mariam, how are you today? Hi, Aziz. I am Mariam. I feel good. I am so happy to be here with you and with all the girls of the world. I hope we were very good and I love the project. Thank you too. I'm happy and honored to have you here and very curious about you as a girl. So I will begin with this nice first question. If your friends could describe who you are, your personality, what will they say about you? I think my friends will say self-confident, gorgeous, and strong because I am active in civil society. I love helping others, especially protesting children, girls, and women who do not feel belonging because of the thinking of our society, I like to see smile on their face. I like help to children and see the smile in their face. That's make my day, my life. Thank you, Mariam. That's absolutely interesting. And because you're a girl who is very active, you do many things. Many girls in this year and today are not very active. They feel shy. Maybe they feel not very confident. Maybe it's because of social media or any other reason. What is your advice to girls from all over the world so that they will be more confident and take action for their potential? I just want to say that first of all the experience we have in our life, we start shy and we can speak to others, we can't say anything. I trust myself because of many experiences I had and with the help of my family, especially in the schools that helped me in how to speak in front of people and have self-confidence. And I wish all the girls had this and I do not listen to any people's words because I know myself and what I can do and what I will do. I advise other girls not to listen to people because they may want to destroy you, trust yourself and trust how you feel. And don't listen to people because they always say bad words just to destroy you. I just enjoy in the groups who are positive, who share positive vibes, who trust on you, who will advise you to work in the future. Thank you and it's really, really wise that you have so much experience with non-profit and non-governmental associations and with childhood parliament. For people that don't know, what is your work at the childhood parliament of Tunisia and how does it help children and girls in your country and in other parts of your region? I am a member of the Tunisian Children's Parliament and this is one of my best experiences which boosted my self-confidence. And we work to help children across the country such as children who are deprived of an education or who are exposed to violence and to the last of the reason. And we believe that children are the future of the country so we seek to provide a stable environment for them and cultivate patriotism of the love of their country so that they can rise up with it in the future. Thank you, Maryam. And I'm even more curious to understand because you're a girl who is very active. You do a lot of work with different associations and you represent your country. How can you describe Tunisian women and girls to people from other countries who maybe don't know any person from Tunisia? What is their personality, their culture, the way they think? How are Tunisian girls different from other girls in all over the world? The girls and women of Tunisia are strong enough to build the hardships of the society for them. We have a lot of you are a girl or you are a woman who does not do this and this. This makes them strong and courageous to defend their right and the right of their daughter in the future. And they secure a life without racism and without bullying. And we put an end to this. And they put an end to this. I have a great respect for them. There are many people around the world who don't know how, don't know that Tunisian women have achieved many achievements as the first Arab woman to fly over a plane and the first Arab woman to be a doctor and many of the achievements that we are proud of and our country is proud of. This is what made a society that values women and take them as role models. Thank you, Mariam. It was my honor and my privilege to interview you, to understand more about you, about Tunisian girls, about the vision and the things that you fight for. I wish you success. I wish you to keep going and thank you again. Thank you. I'm so happy to be here and I support the project and I like it because you make the girls of the world self-confident and that's all. Thank you for this.
