Hello, my name is Aziz and I'm the son of a divorced mother. She is really my superhero. That's why it's important for me to support women to share their uniqueness, their personalities, perspectives, and emotions about life. Too many women in this world feel alone. They worry about the judgment of others, and they struggle with their mental health. But when they listen to the Rare Girls podcast, where empowered women share their voices and tell their stories, many women will feel inspired to live a life of freedom and to overcome all insecurities they will feel. It is a safe space to find their confidence, to remember their unique beauty and to feel their self-worth, and they will connect with the sisterhood of rare girls who encourage their success and support their dreams. That's what this podcast is all about. My guest today is me, Lady Martel. Milly is from Cuba. She's the very first girl from the Cuban island. She studied computer science and was a model and now lives in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Her favorite hobby is dancing, especially salsa and bachata, but she loves many other dance styles. She loves going to the movies and learning languages. Milly, how are you today? Hi, hello. The first I want to say, thank you so much for inviting me to participate in Real Girls. It's very important for me and for all the women around the world to listen to your podcast, really. Today, I'm happy because I have vacation for one month, so I feel happy. No work, nothing, relax all the time. Well, I'm happy for you. I hope you enjoy it so much. And what are some of your plans? Are you going to dance Bachata and Salsa every night to explore and almost not sleep, but enjoy it to the maximum? Or what will you do with a month of happy days? Well, my vacation almost finished. I have three days more vacation, but all this month I spend not only sleeping. I went out with my friend to dancing almost every day because I feel free when I dance. I love dance. I went to movie, to the beach, to pool, but dance is my, in the first, top. Tell me more about that. First, how do you find the enjoyment of dance in Abu Dhabi compared to maybe Cuba or different places? is it there are many foreigners there who have a good fiesta like Cuba is it different how is it well it's not different really for the first time that I went out here I feel like a strange all these people knew for me but I miss some people even locals for native foreigner and For me it's the same. I like this place because I can dance like in Cuba. And the people are very nice. People tell me, okay, come here and dance and say, okay. I like too much this place. It's the same. I feel like a home, really. I'm very, very happy for you. And to ask even from the beginning, did you have some culture shock being adapted to going from Cuba, which is very green, A lot of tropical island to go to the desert or it was for you as long as there is music you don't care You just dance and forget everything for me before coming here I learn about the culture here because it was important I say okay, I go to another country new country. You need learn a little and What's normal because the people here is kind so many people help me even when I came to work people who don't know me in the street and say I'm lost and they help me so in Cuban people is like here so totally for me I feel at home in everything everything not only for the music because I found and the same music like in Cuba and the same place with Cuban music or another kind of music that I like you know the people is very nice very very nice Thank you and you mentioned that you went to the movie I'm curious about the When you go to the movie, how does it make you feel? Is it like you feel you're transporting and traveling into a big screen on the cinema? Is it some characters you feel like they're drama and psychology and you miss telenovelas or I don't know? How is your love for movies? Oh, for movie I feel totally different like in salsa because when I dance, I feel free. I release to my negative energy, everything, but it's more hard, more crazy. And the movie is more calm, more comfortable. And for, of course, I can teleport to the screen, or like, oh my God, and relax, drink something, eat something. It's nice, it's very nice. It's different, music and movie, but I feel good in both. I'm happy about that. Some of the dancer women that I interviewed, they recommend dance, they say it's a great way for a woman to feel beautiful, to find her confidence, to feel sexy, to not compare herself to other women. We have the power. Yes. Tell me more about that. And if you recommend maybe some women don't dance as much as you do, could dance be a type of therapy for confidence for women? For me, it's nice. I have this friend, he's a teacher, choreographer, and I meet many girls from different countries. And don't dance like me because I'm Cuban in my veins, Cuban music, everything. But this girl feels so happy. They are not only happy, feel secure with himself when he danced, with this ladies dance. And you can transmit all this energy, not only for you, for another people. And this is good. For me, ladies go dance, feel free. It's best, and it's good exercise too. I agree. And to ask you as well, maybe I'm sure that you've visited Dubai and you're living in Abu Dhabi. How do you compare both? And which one is your type of personality? Because Dubai has different personality to people in Abu Dhabi. To you, how is it? Maybe on some days you feel like you're in a Dubai mood, other days Abu Dhabi mood, or can you describe? Maybe some even Cuban women are listening, they don't know what I'm talking about. So you can explain it. Well, in Dubai, the life in Dubai is more crazy. More, I don't know how to explain, but here is totally different. Everything is more calm, more quiet. And sometimes I feel like a crazy that I won't go to Dubai to dance. And sometimes I feel like, okay, I'm here, peace, relax. And it's different moment, depends. But I know Dubai is crazy. Life in Dubai is totally crazy. I understand. And even for you more, since you're from Cuba, and like I said, there is a lot of nature, you have rain, which in Abu Dhabi you don't have. How do you connect with nature when you are living in Abu Dhabi? Do you go maybe to some parks, but it's not the same like a tropical island, maybe you go to desert oasis and you love the tranquility and the calm, or how do you connect with nature if you're far away from real green space? It's the same. When I came here, I spent two months in Dubai first, and after I came to Abu Dhabi. And the weather is the same in Cuba. The same. The only here in Cuba is all natural. Here, no. But for me, it's the same. Windy, the weather too much, hot. Everything is the same. Thank you. And let's say there are women in the world who want to travel and go live even in the UAE or anywhere, but they worry, they think, oh, what if I go and something bad happens, I'm far from my family, maybe something like that. They worry a lot. What gave you the confidence to travel so far from Cuba to begin a new life? And what's your advice to other women who can be worried a little bit, but they want to do it, but maybe don't do it because they think Believe in yourself. Never say no. I cannot. For me, this is my principal rule. When I came here and say I can't, it's possible. If I dream, I can do it. I came alone and I hear I have nine months here. No, one year, sorry. One year in July working here and I cannot say I have a scare. No. Never, never, never say I have a scare. It's impossible. I'm far no if you drink you can do it never say no 100% and to know even more about your journey did you have a period of time where you did not feel beautiful where you had too much like a depression anything like that maybe even as a teenager and then how did you find the love for yourself and your advice for other women to find the same okay i think i think that all people, all girls, even men's feet like this, sometimes uncomfortable with his body, his himself. I passed for this before and even here, many beautiful women here, I say okay and I no look like this girl but it's me, I need be me, I don't care the other people. I'm beautiful and smart, I don't care the other people and I give advice for myself and every morning when I wake up, Kaymele you are beautiful, even with makeup and no makeup, you are beautiful. And every woman is beautiful. Even not for the outside, not all is outside, inside too, the feelings, not the physique. No, I don't think this is important, the physique on the person. His feeling is very important. Is the most beautiful, how can I say, more beautiful lady is when he feels comfortable with himself. I agree. The energy, the soul, the authenticity, being real is very, very, very important. And the attitude is important. What the... Okay, explain it more because when Latinas say attitude, they mean being rude. I mean many ladies, beautiful but not good character, not good attitude, rude. No. You can say you can be beauty, but if you are kind and good character, you are not beauty. that's very important. For you, when you meet new people to make new friends in a new country, what do you do or how do you know if a person has good attitude so they become your good friend? Or if someone is just a good actor and or actress and they pretend but they're not really having a good attitude, it can be good advice for some women who can worry about that or they go to a new country and then they're like, I don't have friends, I want friends, but then maybe they worry if there is any psychopath or liars. Well, here for me, the first time that I start to work, I meet my team and I don't speak with anyone before. I say, okay, I want to learn about these people. I learn about people, how I speak, how speak with me, how he treats the other person. I say, okay, good person. No, no good. Okay, I can't say hello because we work together, but that's it. And my friend is only two, three, because I'm agreed with another person here, another woman's, we don't have friends because I have a scare, it's not good. Around the world, it speaks bad persons, around the world, good person, bad person, good attitude, not good attitude. But depend on you, not the other person. It depends on you, really. One hundred percent. And to ask a bit more about your work and your job, etc., now you have been working for a year in July, as you mentioned. For you so far, because many people feel Abu Dhabi and the UAE is a land of opportunities, do you notice that? That even though you work, you can see, you're thinking, oh, after some years I can find even bigger opportunities, I can change. Or you're like, I love my work, I want to stay there. What is your, like, thinking about your goals for the next one, two, three years as you are living in UAE? Okay, right now, working in Rixos Premium Saidas Island and Tiso Melier, but I work like a hostess and waitress part-time and bartender, all these things. Now, I change for a better job. I think everyone, we need to find another job. If I know another job, better opportunity, Not only for money, it's feel comfortable and after two or three years, I don't know if I'm here or I cannot say so you're so you're going for adventure and excitement and for you as well. Is there any words or lesson or advice you want to share with women in the world that you think if they remember they will be happier and live a more powerful life. Yes, it's important make all these that make happy to you if you feel tired I don't know you feel good and taking a coffee got outside Don't stay home if you need help if you feel that comes call someone because don't feel feel lonely It's not good. Really no good and believe in yourself that I say always believe in yourself Nothing is impossible Today is a hard day at work, okay, it's normal, but tomorrow is going better. Thank you so much, Milly. It was my privilege and my honor to speak with you, to share your voice, your soul. I wish you all the dancing, all the movies, all the excitement and all the success and every job and all the happiness. Thank you to you to invite me and go ahead with the project. Amazing project, really. Thank you. Amazing project. Thank you so much. You're very kind.
